Research Interest

Developmental mechanism of functional maps in brain
Orientation map in the primary visual cortex (V1) is one of the most studied functional maps in the brain. While smooth and periodic structure of orientation map is observed in higher mammals, it appears completely discontinuous in rodents. However, what factor induces the different structures of the map remains unclear. Here, in computer simulation, we examine whether simple convergence rule inside the network can organize the structure of the orientation map.
